The Jonas story

Twice, my breath kept me steady when it mattered most

I spent the years in between training it. Now I teach leaders, speakers and performers to do the same.

Jonas Bloom

Voice and breath coach, Budapest

I help people make their voice match their competence, on stage, in a room full of people, and in their life.

My method, Breathe, Express, Transform, combines 360° Core Breathing from the qigong tradition with classical Bel Canto voice training. I work one on one and in small groups, in person in Budapest and online worldwide.

August 2010

The first time

I was in a car accident on the twisty roads of the South of France. The car was wrecked. The driver, my friend, was panicking. I was hurt, but through it all, my breath stayed deep and steady. It kept me present in the moment, grounded, calm and clear.

Back then, I did not understand why. I was simply grateful to be alive.

The years in between

I kept training

I was already practicing qigong, but I did not know what that day meant yet. So I kept building: qigong, classical singing, acting, music. I was building a system without knowing it had already worked once.

Qigong

Over 15 years of practice. Breath and movement trained as one system, not two.

Bel Canto

Classical voice training, in a teaching lineage that passes through the Istanbul Conservatory.

Acting and improv

Trained actor, with 6+ years of improv theater in France and the UK.

Original music

A professional producer, composer, singer and songwriter. I still compose and produce the music for every session myself, so the sound in the room is built for the work.

August 2024

The second time

What felt like a stomach ache turned out to be severe appendicitis. I found out I needed surgery, and that I was close to death. The next morning, when I woke up, my breath was steady again, and it guided me through.

This time, it was eye-opening. I saw the pattern. The same breath, the same calm, twice, in the hardest conditions I have ever faced. It was not luck. It was something I had trained, without ever aiming at a moment like this.

That is when I realized this is why I do this work. It was too valuable to keep to myself.

What this means for you

Your pressure is smaller. The system is the same.

A stage, a boardroom, a camera, a hard conversation. The moments that test you run on the same system. A steady breath is not a personality trait that some people are lucky to have. It is a skill, and skills can be trained.

1

Breathe

360° Core Breathing is the foundation. It trains your breath and calms your nervous system, so your body stays steady when the stakes rise.

2

Express

We build your voice on top of that foundation, with classical Bel Canto technique, so it can carry what you know.

3

Transform

It shows up in how you work, speak and connect, in the rooms that matter to you.

See the full method on the Methodology page, and the mechanism behind it on the Science page.
